- 1 avocado
- 1 pound beef or lamb sirloin, cut into thin, 2-in long strips
- 3 tablespoons canola oil
- 1 onion sliced
- 3 ounces Swiss or Provolone cheese, thinly sliced
- 1 green or red pepper, julienned
- 4 whole-wheat hoagie rolls, baguettes, or sausage rolls, split lengthwise

- Cut the avocado in half, and de-pit
- Place both halves of the avocado, a 1/2 cup of sour cream, and 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a blender
- Blend for 2 minutes or until mixture is completely smooth
Step 1Mix salt, pepper, paprika, chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, garlic salt, thyme, and basil together in a small bowl.Step 2Place beef or lamb in a large bowl, then sprinkle mixture over top and stir thoroughly to coat.Step 3Heat ½ of the canola oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the beef or lamb and stir until desired doneness. Place the cooked meat to a plate.Step 4Heat the remaining ½ of canola oil in the skillet. Add onion and green or red pepper, stir until tender and slightly caramelized.Step 5Preheat the oven on "broil" for at least 8 minStep 6Split the rolls, top and bottom halves.Step 7Butter both sides of each of the 4 rolls with ghee or reduced-fat butter.Step 8Evenly divide the cooked beef or lamb between the bottoms of 4 rolls. Layer with onion and green or red pepper, then topped with Swiss or Provolone. Then place the loaded rolls on a cookie sheet.Step 9Broil in the preheated oven until cheese is sufficiently melted.Step 10Cover with tops of the rolls and serve.
